The porches of downtown Napa will be music-free this weekend â but organizers of Napa Porchfest may recast this yearâs summertime music crawl as a downtown concert in the early fall. In their effort to bring Porchfest back to live audiences for the first time since before the coronavirus pandemic, directors are attempting to recast this year s festival of local and regional musicians as a free showcase for up to a dozen acts at the Oxbow Commons park. The event, tentatively scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 26, would take place on the temporary set that will host this yearâs Oxbow RiverStage concert series, which begins next month and will run into October. ....

While most Napa Valley towns continue a cautious return back to mass gatherings after enduring the coronavirus pandemic, the city of American Canyon will lead the way in producing an outdoor celebration of Independence Day this year. A parade, live music, and fireworks display will mark American Canyonâs 4th of July Community Celebration, which will run from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Sunday. The festival is expected to be Napa Countyâs most visible celebration of Independence Day since the spread of COVID-19 triggered stay-at-home orders in March 2020, wiping out more than a year of public events. American Canyonâs festival contrasts with Napaâs continued suspension of city-sponsored holiday events, despite Californiaâs move to relax most remaining COVID-19 restrictions on June 15. A boat parade organized by the Napa Valley Yacht Club is planned for Saturday morning on the Napa River. ....
