Hannah Vickers to leave ACE for role with Mace
Vickers joined the ACE in September 2018 from the Institution of Civil Engineers. Prior to this she worked for Infrastructure UK, part of HM Treasury and the Environment Agency.

UK Expands Vision of Sustainability Through 'WholeSum'


WholeSum is a new hub for news, information and discussions on sustainability issues for students, employees and the community.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 22, 2021) On this Earth Day, the University of Kentucky community is coming together to take a holistic new approach to sustainability.
For many, sustainability has long evoked ideas of environmental stewardship think the three R’s : reduce, reuse, recycle.
But according to UK Sustainability Officer Shane Tedder, it goes beyond that.
“Sustainability has long been described using the metaphor of a three-legged stool or a triple bottom line   where environmental stewardship and social equity/justice are balanced equals to economic considerations, Tedder said. Applications for the UK Sustainability Challenge Grant Program Now Being Accepted


Students take measurements on a street tree as part of a previously funded Challenge Grant Project that focused on preparing urban forests for a changing climate.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 21, 2021) The Sustainability Challenge Grant Program is designed to engage multidisciplinary teams from the university community to foster scholarly, creative and research projects that promote sustainability and advance field(s) of study. Sustainability, in this context, is intended to convey the need to pursue activities that are ecologically sound, socially just and economically viable. 
Applications for the University of Kentucky Sustainability Challenge Grant Program are being accepted now through May 28, 2021. Total project funds available are expected to be $200,000 with individual projects eligible to receive up to $50,000. Application materials can be found on the UK Sustainability website. ....

'Nearly 48% of banking customers would cash out if they knew their bank was funding fossil fuels'

Almost half of banking customers would move their money if they found out their bank was financing fossil fuels.
That’s one of the findings of new research by Deloitte, which suggests seven-in-ten customers are likely to choose banks with positive social and environmental impacts.
Almost 61% of 1,250 UK banking customers who took part in the survey wish that their bank would do more to create a positive social and environmental impact.
Three-fifths of the customers think their bank is strongly committed to sustainable and environmental causes, according to the research.
However, almost 64% of the respondents would like their bank to allow them to mobilise a portion of its profits to a cause they support. ....
