State Rep. James Arciero, of Westford, was chosen on Feb. 12 as the new house chair of the joint committee on housing by statehouse speaker Ronald Mariano, of Quincy, who made his leadership and committee assignments for the 192th legislative session.
“I am honored by the trust and confidence that speaker Mariano has shown me in this selection,” said Arciero, who is serving his seventh term in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. “Housing is an important issue both in my district and across our state. I look forward to working with my legislative colleagues as we address these important issues over the next two years.” ....

As Gov. Charlie Baker Wednesday announced a new mass COVID-19 vaccination site in Dartmouth, Cape officials voiced their disappointment at the lack of a similar site in Barnstable County.
Cape Cod is clearly being left behind here in the COVID vaccine rollout, State Sen. Julian Cyr (D-Truro) said during a Thursday morning COVID-19 Task Force briefing. I’m frustrated, I’m disappointed, and I m frankly pretty enraged. We need a mass vaccine distribution site on Cape Cod…or adequate supply.

The Seaport no longer seems to be sizzling, some real estate agents say, but a look at the sales figures from the last six months of 2020 don’t reflect that trend yet.
“Once upon a time, amenities were very attractive; now there is hesitation about being in shared communities,” Antonio Khoury, an agent and managing partner with Compass, said. But many buildings have gotten creative, offering opportunities like private pool access and spa appointments, he said.
“Historic properties are trending stronger than full-service buildings since those buildings tend to have fewer units,” Compass agent and managing director Brett DeRocker said. This creates an opportunity for buyers looking for a full-service building, he said. “You can open quite a few doors in all the downtown neighborhoods with $3 million; you can get more bang for your buck.” ....

For the month of January, the Cape Cod Maritime Museum is serving as a collection location for A Baby Center donations.
For over 20 years, the Hyannis-based charity has been providing critical baby essentials, at no cost, to parents of infants in poverty on Cape and Islands, and helping to ensure the good health and safety of babies and toddlers in our community.
The organization also offers resources such as parenting support programs and nutritional guidance to young families.
Throughout the entire month, drop off new baby supplies at the Maritime Museum Wednesday through Friday between noon and 3 p.m., or by appointment any other day of the week. A Baby Center s wish list includes: size six (6) diapers; baby wash, lotion and shampoo; rash cream; and toddler clothing- sizes 12M, 2T, 3T, 4T and 5T. ....
