7 Under-the-Radar Waiver Wire Pickups (Week 4)


“With Miguel Sano hitting the IL, Kirilloff hits the big leagues once again. He offers advanced pitch recognition skills for someone of his age, but the power may not show up right away. Short term at-bats look available, but he will need to make a good early impression this week to maintain that trend over the long haul. With no Triple-A experience, the upside may be better than the results, making him an add-and-deal candidate in redraft for a good every day player (with a good track record) who may be struggling. Jeff McNeil for instance would be a great return.”

Under-the-Radar Waiver Wire Pickups (Week 3)


“Aguilar is playing every day and batting in the heart of the Marlins’ lineup so far in 2021. Of course, we all remember his extraordinary start to 2018 and its 2019 counterpart which was … well … a little more ordinary, but his 2020 is a realistic balance and is what I expect in 2021. His 2020 stats, when extrapolated to 600 plate appearances, come out to an extremely serviceable 86 runs, 94 RBIs, 22 homers, and a .277 batting average. His numbers only hurt you in steals. The best part is his peripherals and Statcast data back it up! There is no other player under 20% rostered that provides both the safety of everyday playing time and upside (as seen in his 2018) as Aguilar. Plus, he’s such a fun guy to watch.”

“Shaw looks healthy and is locked in at 3B for the Brewers. He’s also been hitting around the 4-5 spot in the batting order. Shaw is a cheap source of power for your CI spot. He’ll always strike out too much, but 25 HR potential still exists in that bat and Milwaukee is a favorable home ballpark for power. He’s worth the add in roto leagues.”
Q2. What one starting pitcher should fantasy managers look into picking up that is owned in less than 25% of leagues?
“Shoemaker has struggled to stay healthy over the course of his career, but as of today, he’s healthy. Rostered in just eight percent of combined Yahoo!/ESPN leagues, he should be picked up in most 12-team formats. He has a decent splitter and slider which are used to induce swings outside the zone with regularity. He’s backed by a very good defense and the Twins offense should supply plenty of run support. He’s slated to face the Mariners, Pirates, and Athletics in three of his next four outings. Go get him!”

Don't Draft These 9 Overvalued Players (Fantasy Baseball)


 
Few things harm your fantasy season more than having the misfortune of selecting an overvalued player, especially in the early rounds. While these guys aren’t bad and some may not particularly be busts (athletes who end up completely bottoming out, producing much less than their expected floor), there are often other players that have either a higher floor, ceiling, or better track record who could be had later than the names our featured analysts are about to share with you. Remember, most of these performers have special attributes or have delivered stellar production at some point that has fueled their lofty average draft positions (ADP) and would make good additions to your squad at the right price as a result. Just be aware of what you may sacrifice by taking these athletes at their ADP and what you might be missing out on later in your draft.
