Judge Richard Lavery handed down the sentence this afternoon in Third District Court telling Fletcher that his “crime was hard to put into a category where at least some incarceration is not warranted.” Lena Fletcher died on the night of June 29, 2020, after being shot with a .44 Magnum Ruger Blackhawk through her hand, neck, and shoulder at the couple’s Clearview Acres home. GREEN RIVER The conclusions reached by a number of forensic experts show that Lena Fletcher most likely did not commit suicide on the night of June 29, 2020. Jurors reviewed a large amount of forensic evidence on the second day of the felony involuntary manslaughter trial of 46-year-old Jason Fletcher today in Third District Court. Sweetwater County Coroner Dale Majhanovich opened the day by testifying that the forensic pathologist on the case concluded Lena’s death was most likely a homicide. Blood spatter analysis expert Clark Robinson with the Rock Springs Police Department testified that his analysis determined where Lena’s body was located when the gun went off. He said a high-velocity, aspirated spatter near the door jamb in the kitchen and several transfer stains indicated Lena’s direction as she fell.

Fletcher has been charged with felony involuntary manslaughter in the death of his wife, Lena Fletcher, at their Clearview Acres home west of Rock Springs on the night of June 29, 2020. Body cam footage from several law enforcement agents at the scene was transcribed and entered into evidence today. Much of the footage shows an intoxicated and distressed Fletcher pleading with officers to help his wife and stating that she would never shoot herself on purpose.
