In Memoriam — Mike Trueblood

Mike Trueblood, former director of Cal State Fullerton’s Center for Family Business, died last week at the age of 91.
Trueblood, a former advertising executive who served with the Leo Burnett Agency and Dailey & Associates, joined CSUF in 1999 and served until 2011 as the second director of the center.

Current center director Ed Hart remembers him fondly: “Mike lived an amazing life and was known by everyone as a humble, gentle, kind-hearted and service-oriented man. In 2011, he was recognized as the Big Brother of the Year by the National Catholic Big Brothers. That honor was further recognized when he and his Little Brother visited the White House and met President Obama. Mike made all of us want to be better people.” ....

I figured Bob Johnson was just a kindly gadfly when we first met in 2009. After all, who requests a meeting with a reporter to talk about history specifically, Orange County history, a subject as obscure and unloved as the study of carpet?

Tarsadia Foundation Gifts $300,000 to Center for Healthy Neighborhoods

When Maya Patel, executive chair of the Tarsadia Foundation, first visited Cal State Fullerton’s Center for Healthy Neighborhoods in 2019, she was inspired by its mission to alleviate education and health disparities, revitalize neighborhoods and reduce the cycle of poverty through community partnerships.
Patel, who serves on the board of governors for CSUF’s Philanthropic Foundation, also feels a personal connection to the community, with many members of her family graduating from the university.

“This is where we grew up and we were naturally drawn to the school,” shared Patel. “Through some friends I got connected to the board and was able to learn about all of the programs the university offers to help our community.” ....
