Capitol riot: Stephen Chase Randolph found through software, feds say


It took federal agents more than three months to find the man they say was in a gray Carhartt cap seen in riot footage pushing through barricades and assaulting U.S. Capitol Police officers on Jan. 6.
Because of facial recognition software and his girlfriend s Instagram photos, he s now in custody  the 14th Kentuckian arrested for participation in the U.S. Capitol riots.
Stephen Chase Randolph, of Harrodsburg, was charged with assaulting a federal officer and inflicting bodily injury, obstruction of law enforcement during civil disorder and obstruction of Congress.
Randolph was in federal custody as of Wednesday and was scheduled to appear before a federal judge in the Western District of Kentucky on Thursday. Details about his release are not yet available. ....

Man Indicted For Attacking Officer With Skateboard During U.S. Capitol Riot

A federal grand jury in Washington indicted a Florida man for taking his skateboard to the head of a Metropolitan Police officer during the U.S. Capitol insurrection Jan. 6.
Grady Douglas Owens, 21, was initially arrested on April 1 in Florida. He faces several charges including assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers or employees; obstruction; and violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds.
Owens was captured on body camera footage using a skateboard to assault an unnamed Metropolitan Police officer, referred to as “C.B.” outside of the Capitol building, according to prosecutors. The attack caused a concussion and finger injury to the police officer. ....
