$34M in federal CDBG funds headed to 41 Massachusetts communities

The state announced Tuesday $34 million in federal CDBG, or Community Development Block Grant, funding for 41 communities from the Berkshires to Martha’s Vineyard.
The money can be used for local projects, including housing rehabilitation, small infrastructure projects, and for local social services like youth programming or food banks.
“Our administration is pleased to announce $34 million in federal funding to help 41 communities deliver vital services to residents and invest in local infrastructure,” said Gov. Charlie Baker in a prepared release. “These grants will help municipalities fill key budget gaps created by the pandemic, enabling them to advance critical long-term projects while continuing to support residents in the fight against COVID-19.” ....

$10 million in COVID relief granted to Mass. cultural nonprofits

BOSTON – Mass Cultural Council, in partnership with the Executive Office of Housing & Economic Development, announced the recipients of nearly $10 million in COVID relief through the Cultural Organization Economic Recovery Grant Program.
Three Fall River organizations were among the 183 cultural nonprofits statewide that received $9,960,600 to support this sector’s economic recovery from losses sustained by the COVID-19 pandemic. The program is part of the Baker-Polito Administration’s Economic Recovery Plan, Partnerships for Recovery.
In addition to expanding opportunity for job seekers, assisting communities as they plan and adapt, and helping to create a foundation to build upon in the months ahead, our comprehensive plan for economic recovery continues to deliver targeted relief in the form of grants like this, said Gov. Mayor Muriel Bowser signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) committing to a multi-state program they say will reduce motor vehicle pollution by at least 26 percent and generate over $1.8 billion in Massachusetts by 2032.
The bipartisan Transportation and Climate Initiative Program (TCI-P) will allow participating jurisdictions to invest in equitable, cleaner transportation options, and create significant new employment opportunities while substantially improving public health across the Commonwealth and New England, claim officials in the announcement.
Underscoring the importance of regional action, other Transportation and Climate Initiative (TCI) jurisdictions released a joint statement committing to continued collaboration on the development of the regional program, as well as working to identify ....
