MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - As we approach the one-year mark of school closures across the country due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the calls for returning to in-person learning are growing more urgent.
A timeline for returning to in-person school remains a fierce topic of debate. The big question is how to bring students back safely.
“There is increasing data to suggest that schools can safely reopen. And that that safe reopening does not suggest that teachers need to be vaccinated in order to reopen safely,” Walensky said during a White House briefing on Wednesday. ....

Two Elmore County Schools Transition to Virtual for Remainder of the Week

Elmore County Superintendent Richard Dennis announced that two schools within the school system will go virtual. The school will go virtual for the remainder of the week of January 11-15.
The schools transitioning to virtual are Coosada Elementary and Holtville Elementary. This comes due to an increased number of personnel quarantined and self-isolated.
Dennis says the school will re-evaluate the health status of each school and determine if students can return to school on Tuesday, January 19. He says parents/guardians will be notified of a specific return date as soon as possible. ....
