A group of congressional Republicans this week attempted to overturn election results in a handful of states, using baseless claims of fraud surrounding absentee mail ballots.
Their efforts did not include North Carolina because President Trump narrowly won the state.
But some of the issues cited in states like Pennsylvania over expanded absentee mail ballots were also at play in North Carolina. The 2020 fight over mail voting in North Carolina capped off a years-long fight over voting access and allegations of fraud.

ATLANTA, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) The Jimmy Carter National Historic Site in Plains, will now be a Historic Park.
U.S. Senators David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler helped secure unanimous Senate passage of the Jimmy Carter National Historical Park Redesignation Act.
The bill was originally introduced in the Senate and House by Senator Perdue and Congressman Sanford Bishop, and is sponsored by the Georgia congressional delegation.
Having now passed both the Senate and House, the bill heads to President Trump for his signature.
“No matter where life has taken me, from the Governor’s mansion to the White House, Plains has always been my home,” said President Carter. “Rosalynn joins me in thanking Senator Perdue, Congressman Bishop, and the Georgia delegation for helping preserve my family’s legacy.”

The U.S. Senate unanimously passed a bill on Monday that already had cleared the House of Representatives redesignating the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site as the âJimmy Carter National Historical Park.â
The measure was introduced into Congress by Sen. David Perdue, R-Ga., and Rep. Sanford Bishop, D-Albany, and cosponsored by the entire Georgia congressional delegation.
