The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Works will scrutinise a $35.7 million proposal from Airservices Australia to refurbish the Air Traffic Services Centre and Control Tower Complex at Brisbane Airport at a public hearing on Thursday 4 March 2021.
The inquiry into the Airservices Australia, Brisbane Air Traffic Services Centre and Control Tower Complex Refurbishment Project will examine the need for the fitout of the office and administration areas within the Control Tower and Air Traffic Service Centres. Under the proposal, the project will also provide space to accommodate the relocation and integration of Defence air traffic control approach services from Darwin and Townsville Air Force bases into the Brisbane Air Traffic Service Centre. ....

COVID-19 could reverse important gains in educational attainment and future life chances for young people in developing countries – particularly the poorest and most vulnerable, according to Oxford-led research.
Despite many young people in developing countries now returning to education or employment, interrupted learning, less reliable work, food shortages and significant mental health issues are widening inequalities, according to a COVID-19 phone survey from the long-standing Young Lives research team.
This latest research shows that, despite encouraging signs, many young people are getting their lives back on track, a complex and uneven picture is unfolding. ....
