Returning from picking up her older son from school earlier this month, 28-year-old mother of two Cara Louise was surprised to see several squad cars milling around her home in the Bedfordshire, England, suburb of Houghton Regis, according to Triangle News via the
New York Post. Once Louise pulled into her driveway, she spoke to a nearby neighbor about the police presence, jokingly asking, "What have you done?" In response, she was told that the officers were there to investigate multiple reports that Louise had a corpse wrapped in trash bags and bound with duct tape propped up against her wall. It was an answer that left her at a loss for words.

Cara Louise, of Bedfordshire, says the issue was sparked by a dummy wrapped in garbage bags and duct tape that she had used as a spooky decoration at a holiday kids’ party. She explains the fake corpse had been kept in her backyard since November, but had recently been relocated to behind some garbage bins as she gardened, and she forgot to put it back. The creepy prop freaked out her neighbors, who called police, and ten officers showed up. Thankfully, Louise was able to explain to the police that she had “not killed anyone.” She added that her five-year-old son stood close by and told the police “how much he loves Halloween and we can’t get rid of the body because he loves it.”

A U.K. woman was mortified after an errantly placed Halloween prop prompted a squad of 10 police officers to surround her home on the suspicion that she’d committed murder.
"I arrived home from the school run to see two police cars driving away from outside my house," Bedfordshire’s Cara Louise, 28, told Triangle News of her near-arrest.
The fiasco was sparked by a dummy wrapped in garbage bags and duct tape that the mother of two had used as a spooky decoration at a holiday kids’ party.
"My 5-year-old boy is really into dressing up for every occasion so we did the inside up with a circus theme and he dressed as It," said Louise. "So the prop in the garden was part of our theme."

A squad of ten police officers swooped on a mother-of-two's home after she left a fake corpse from Halloween out and neighbours thought there had been a murder.
Cara Louise, 28, used the prop wrapped in bin liners during a party for her children last year, leaving it in her garden.
But she shifted the spooky decoration while gardening and forgot to move it back as she rushed to collect her eldest son from school.
The hairdresser was left horrified when police swarmed her home in Houghton Regis, Bedfordshire, yesterday morning after three people spotted it and called 999.
She was able to explain to the force what had happened after returning from the school run.
