Rural community leaders call on Gaetz, Greene to 'stop dividing America' ahead of US tour


“Rural Voices USA, the non-partisan network of rural community leaders across America, today purchased a billboard at The Villages, near the site of U.S. Representatives Matt Gaetz and Marjorie Taylor Greene’s ‘America First’ rally, that calls for unity,” the group said in a press release.
The Florida billboard calls the two representatives by name saying “stop trying to divide us” and “we are all Americans first.”

The group plans to keep putting these billboards up at different stops throughout the representatives’ tour.
“These rallies represent everything that’s wrong with American politics right now,” Board President of Rural Voices USA Christopher Gibbs said. “The reason we have rioters storming the Capitol over false claims of a stolen presidential election is because of the inflammatory rhetoric that will be on full display at tonight’s rally. WASHINGTON – President Joe Biden s plan to spend billions for better roads, safer bridges and modernized locks and dams on waterways will aid rural areas and the agriculture sector, but some groups said his broad definition of infrastructure and his proposed tax increases are problematic.
Johnathan Hladik, policy director for the Center for Rural Affairs in Nebraska, said he is heartened by the $115 billion the plan said is needed to repair the worst 10,000 smaller bridges, including bridges that provide critical connections to rural and tribal communities. ....

In a speech in Pittsburgh on Wednesday, March 31, President Biden unveiled a $2 trillion infrastructure proposal that covers traditional projects such as roads, bridges and inland waterways but would also attempt to reduce greenhouse gases and bring high-speed internet service to remote parts of rural America.
In his speech, Biden said, “I’m proposing a plan for the nation that rewards work, not just rewards wealth. It builds a fair economy that gives everybody a chance to succeed, and it’s going to create the strongest, most resilient, innovative economy in the world” ....
