HERE. JACLYN: I WAS LOOKING AT THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FORECAST DISCUSSION AND THE WHOLE SYNOPSIS FOR THE WEATHER RIGHT NOW IS HIGH PRESSURE STICKS AROUND UNTIL WEDNESDAY. YOU HAVE TO LOVE A SIMPLE FORECAST LIKE THAT BECAUSE IT MEANS WE ARE IN FOR A FEW BEAUTIFUL DAYS. WARM AND DRY THROUGH MIDWEEK. BY LATER IN THE WEEK, MORE UNSETTLED WEATHER MOVES IN BY THURSDAY AND WE COULD SEE THUNDERSTORMS WITH A FEW MORE SHOWERS INTO THE WEEKEND. HERE’S A LOOK AT THE PIEDMONT TRIAD DAY -- TEMPERATURES IN THE UPPER 70’S. VERY WARM, SUNNY AND DRY, EXACTLY WHAT WE LIKE TO SEE TO START OFF THE WORKWEEK. IF YOU DON’T HAVE THE DAY OFF, YOU WILL STILL HAVE GREAT WEATHER OUTSIDE. I RECOMMEND GOING FOR THAT WALK OR JOG AFTER WORK AND BEFORE SUNRISE. IF YOU WANT TO GRILL OUT, IT’S A GREAT DAY TO DO THAT. FOOTHILLS LOOKING NICE AS WELL WITH TEMPERATURES IN THE MID-70’S. 70 FIVE WILL BE THE HIGH IN THAT LOCATION. BY 9 P.M., STILL VERY MILD AND IN THE MOUNTAINS, A GORGEOUS MOUNTAIN DAY. IF YOU HAVE THE DAY OFF, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND GOING FOR A HIKE AS WE ARE GETTING INTO THE LATER PART OF THE DAY. 64 DEGREES FOR DINNERTIME, SO MAY BE AN OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE DINNER OUTSIDE. WINDS WILL STAY ON THE COMBER SIDE, NOTHING GUSTY. 9 P.M., STILL VERY NICE. WE ARE IN THE SEASON THE ROLLER COASTER TEMPERATURES BUT THIS IS THE BIGGEST ROLLER COASTER WEEK WE COULD HAVE IN THE SPRING BECAUSE THE WHOLE RANGE FOR THE WEEK IS ABOUT 10 DEGREES IN EITHER DIRECTION. THE COLDEST DAY IS -- ENJOY IT WHILE IT STICKS AROUND. THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THOSE LOWER TEMPERATURES AS THE UNSETTLED WEATHER MOVES AND COULD RESULT IN A FEW THUNDERSTORMS. THIS TIME OF YEAR, ALL THAT EXTRA WARMTH ACTS AS FUEL FOR STORMS AND CAUSES A POTENTIAL FOR SEVERE STORMS. HERE’S A LOOK AT THE EXTENDED RANGE, HOUR-BY-HOUR FORECAST. THURSDAY, HALF OF OUR AREA SEES SOME RAIN. SOME THUNDERSTORMS, MAY BE ON THE THUNDER -- ON THE STRONGER SIDE. LOOKS LIKE IT WILL BE LATER IN THE DAY. SOME THUNDERSTORMS POSSIBLE AS WELL ON SUNDAY AND WE STILL HAVE RAIN AND SHOWERS, LESS THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY, BUT DEFINITELY SOME SOGGY DAYS. HERE IS A LOOK AT THE SEVEN-DAY FORECAST. THE WEEKEND IS WHERE WE SEE OUR COOLEST TEMPERATURES. OVERNIGHT LOWS ARE ALSO PRETTY MILD. 50 DEGREES IS THE COLDEST WE SEE, STILL VERY MILD. DEFINITELY IN LAYERED SEASON FOR SURE BUT HARD TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE NEXT FEW D

Greensboro needs more police officers. One problem: Fewer want the job.

GREENSBORO — Facing a troubling surge in violent crime and a growing population, city officials have suggested that the police department add 16 more sworn officers to its ranks.
It’s just one of many suggestions being bandied about to help Greensboro police fight what seems, at the moment, to be a losing battle. Homicides are at a record level, and officials are grasping for ways to stem the tide of violence.
More officers on the street would be a start. The department is short about 40 sworn officers at the moment.
Just one problem, according to a new city report: It’s not easy to find people who want to be police officers.

Forsyth County could get $3 million from General Assembly for Belews Lake Park

A new Forsyth County park planned for the shores of Belews Lake is about as close to Reidsville or Greensboro as it is to Winston-Salem.
As a result, lawmakers from around the Triad are signing on to a bill that would appropriate $3 million from the state’s Parks and Recreation Trust Fund to further the development of the park.
The bill was filed March 29 by N.C. Rep. Donny Lambeth, R-Forsyth, but has drawn support from other lawmakers representing Stokes, Surry, Rockingham and Guilford counties, and even one from Durham County.
“While the property is in Forsyth County, it is really a regional opportunity for that part of the state,” Lambeth said, explaining the regional support the bill has drawn.

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) — In a one-story industrial building on Clifton Road, Matt Mullens has the big kitchen all to himself.
Linoleum floors, steel tables and a stainless steel stove would make anyone feel like a high-end chef.
But there’s nothing fancy about Mullens’ work.
It’s all about the vegan cheese sauce he personally makes to fuel a growing business that is now nationwide. With the help of PayPal, the payment-exchange service, Mullens has seed money he believes is giving his company a solid foundation.

Scrapple Trail honors love-it or loathe-it breakfast meat

Scrapple Trail honors love-it or loathe-it breakfast meat

MIDDLETOWN, Del. (AP) — You either love or loathe the loaf.
Scrapple, the breakfast meat made with pig parts not often talked about — like snouts, livers and hearts — a thick layer of cornmeal mush, and sprinkles of herbs and spices, is not for everyone.
But devout scrapple fans are steadfast in their belief these greyish, brick-like blocks of mystery meat are better than bacon, and maybe even more satisfying than sausage.
And no more proof is needed than a quick scroll through the Scrapple Trail, a year-old, public Facebook page that now counts more than 7,200 members.
