STOUGHTON, MA Stoughton residents elected a familiar face to the select board in Tuesday s special town election.
Louis Gitto will return to the select board after defeating Mark Zamanian 702 votes to 506, according to unofficial results. Gitto has served in town government in several roles over nearly 50 years. That experience includes three terms as a selectman and also serving as a member of the redevelopment authority, finance committee, planning board and master planning committee.
Gitto in his campaign identified getting a new fire station as the town s most important issue. He said the current station on Central Street has been In deplorable shape for a decade or more.
