Local co-op starts BBQ giveaways JAMIE DUFFY | The Journal Gazette Human Agricultural Cooperative has organized several Community Curbside BBQ giveaway events. This month's schedule includes a giveaway from 3 to 5 p.m. today at Big Momma's Kitchen, 1307 Oxford St., with 300 meals to be distributed. Another event will be March 30 at Junk Ditch, 1825 W. Main St., from 3 to 5 p.m. with 450 meals being served. Partner organizations are United Way of Allen County, Family and Friends Fund, Big Momma's Kitchen, Junk Ditch Brewing Co., Affine Hospitality, GK Baked Goods, Indiana Unlimited and IU Royalty. Ty Simmons, Human Agricultural Cooperative's executive director, said the giveaways are an ongoing effort.

The business, which has a location in Wabash, has been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic and can no longer expand to a second location, said Tony Brita, a spokesman for the project, during this morning's meeting of the board. He sought, and the board unanimously approved, transferring the previous $150,000 in funding to new operators affiliated with Junk Ditch Brewing Co. of Fort Wayne.
