Defense Official: Pentagon Must Reassess JEDI Cloud Stance
‘I can’t comment on the court case and I’m not going to comment on specifically what DOD is going to do but I will say…it is absolutely vital that we are able to move forward on a data-centric approach in the department,’ said Kathleen Hicks, deputy secretary of defense under the Biden administration.

The US Court of Federal Claims’ decision not to dismiss allegations that presidential interference played a role in Amazon Web Services (AWS) losing a $10bn government cloud contract “changes little”, Microsoft claims.
The two cloud giants have been at loggerheads and embroiled in a legal battle since the US Department of Defense (DoD) confirmed in October 2019 that it had appointed Microsoft to deliver its decade-long, $10bn public cloud-focused Joint Enterprise Defence Infrastructure (JEDI) contract. ....

The Court of Federal Claims issued a sealed decision Wednesday denying a motion by the Department of Justice and Microsoft to dismiss Amazon’s protest of the Pentagon’s $10 billion Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure (JEDI) cloud contract.
While the decision to dismiss wasn’t made available to the public, Amazon confirmed the court’s denial.
Amazon has two main claims in its larger JEDI protest of Microsoft’s award: That “DOD consistently and repeatedly made prejudicial errors, at every step along the way, that systematically favored Microsoft,” and that this happened because of overt influence from President Trump and other high-level government officials, who wanted to do harm to Amazon. ....

Fed Circ. Says Ill. Landowners Filed Flooding Suit Too Late
Law360 (April 21, 2021, 7:14 PM EDT) The Federal Circuit has affirmed the U.S. Court of Federal Claims finding that 62 Illinois landowners waited too long to accuse the Army Corps of Engineers of placing an increasing number of river training structures in the Mississippi River causing recurrent flooding of their land.
In a nonprecedential opinion issued Tuesday, the federal appeals court panel said the lower court didn t err when it held that the landowners should have known before August 2012 that flooding was common in the area near their property, rendering their August 2018 lawsuit time-barred and filed outside the Tucker Act s six-year statute of limitation.. ....
