Ends don’t justify means
The June 20 Sun editorial was disappointing and may indicate that the editorial board believes that the ends justify the means. The editorial states important School Board goals and then implies that achieving these goals is unlikely unless a wrongly elected School Board member is allowed to stay on the board.
In justification, the editorial goes on to state an error made by the Supervisor of Elections Office misled the candidate into certifying residence in a district other than the one in which the candidate resides. This is false. It’s the candidate, not the Supervisor of Elections Office, that is required to certify residence in the district they are running to represent. And the county makes that easy by providing an easily accessible School District map (https://tinyurl.com/yj68p9oy). ....
