Next Gen Personal Finance Launches $1M Mission 2025 Grant Challenge to Close Personal Finance Education Gap in U.S. Classrooms

PALO ALTO, Calif., April 8, 2021 /PRNewswire/  Next Gen Personal Finance (NGPF), the leader in financial education in middle and high schools in the U.S., launched the Mission: 2025 Challenge. The goal of the Mission: 2025 Challenge is that 100% of high school students will have access to a personal finance course by the year 2025.
U.S. high schools that launch new one-semester personal finance courses in the next school year will receive $1,000 grants with $1 million to be awarded.

PALO ALTO, Calif., March 10, 2021 /PRNewswire/ 70% of high school teachers are very confident to teach personal finance, according to a study released earlier this month by Dr. Melody Harvey of University of Wisconsin-Madison and Dr. Carly Urban of Montana State University. This study demonstrates the significant changes in the personal finance instruction and professional development since an earlier 2009 study, which found that only 9% of teachers felt well qualified to teach personal finance (Way and Holden, 2009).

Free online personal finance training offered to all Vermont educators

Vermont Business Magazine Starting March 3, the Center for Financial Literacy at Champlain College, in partnership with the Vermont Agency of Education, will be offering free online (and on-demand) financial literacy training for all Vermont K-12 teachers. 
More than 80,000 Vermont students could benefit from this program, which gives teachers access to the tools, resources, and training they need to successfully integrate personal finance education into their classrooms and organizations.
“Now is the time for financial literacy education, more than ever,” says Winooski High School teacher Courtney Poquette.
The program is being opened up to a wider audience this year thanks to the online nature of the training and because of the financial effects of pandemic. Homeschoolers and educators at nonprofits, after-school programs, and state and local agencies are also encouraged to participate. ....
