Adrain Dickey, Mary Stewart hope to represent Iowa Senate District 41

With the Iowa Senate back in session, there remains a vacancy on the floor: U.S. Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, a Republican, resigned from her state senate seat in December 2020 following a tight congressional race. On Tuesday, voters will decide who will fill it.
The race to represent Iowa Senate District 41 pits Adrian Dickey, R-Packwood, against Mary Stewart, D-Ottumwa.
The deadline to return absentee ballots in-person is 9 p.m. Tuesday, when polls will close on election night. Alternatively, they must be postmarked by Monday.
Meet Republican Adrian Dickey
Adrian Dickey said he was contacted by the Republican Party about running for the seat one week after Miller-Meeks victory was certified by the state. His family has deep roots in Jefferson County politics: His grandmother was an alternate delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1952 and his father, Dave Dickey, retired last year after serving 27 years as the Mayor ....

Since 2017, a Mankato, Minnesota-based developer and property manager has been scooping up properties on the south side of College Street in downtown Iowa City s pedestrian mall. Two years of negotiations with city came to fruition Tuesday night, when the Iowa City Council signed off on a tax increment financing agreement to support a major renovation along the pedestrian mall in the city s core.
The Tailwind Group s $56.4 million redevelopment encompasses buildings that, prior to the pandemic, housed El Patron Restaurant to the west through Martini s on the east.
