Lucinda Brand has won the Zilvermeercross in Mol, a cyclocross race that does not count for the rankings. The Dutch was slightly stronger in the soft sand of the Zilvermeer than her compatriot Denise Betsema. Marianne Vos was third on the podium.
From the snow and cold in Mol, it is now going for Wout van Aert to the sun in Spain, where he will train for a week in the company of his teammates from Jumbo-Visma. As a brand new father, such a first internship after birth takes some getting used to.
Wout van Aert has won his first cyclocross race in the Belgian tricolor. Van Aert was the strongest in the sand in the Zilvermeercross in Mol and therefore had a good rehearsal for the World Cup in Ostend (31 January). Laurens Sweeck came in second. Many top riders sent their cat to Mol, which is not a classification cross.

TÊTE DE LA COURSE
Welcome to Chain Links here at The Podium Cafe, a selection of cycling news links from across the internet. I do the work so that you don’t have to.
The Olympics are apparently off, or on, or up in the air, depending upon which source you listen to. Wout got PAID with a capital P, plus race cancellation news, COVID considerations and much more. Let’s get to it.
A note about this Chain Links: The descriptions of the links that are in italics are from non-English language sites, and I’ve pulled the metadata over to give you an idea of what the “gist” of the story is about. I set my browser to auto-translate, your milage may vary.
