ANN ARBOR, MI After speaking out about an Ann Arbor City Council colleague’s use of a homophobic slur on Facebook, Travis Radina said he received anti-gay hate mail.
“This weekend, the fallout against our LGBTQ community continued,” Radina, who is openly gay, told his colleagues at the council meeting Monday night, April 19.

ANN ARBOR, MI Ann Arbor City Council Member Jeff Hayner has been removed from several city boards, commissions and committees for using a quote on social media attacking journalists with a homophobic slur.
“Such derogatory language is harmful to the LGBTQ community,” council stated in a resolution Tuesday morning, April 20, condemning Hayner’s remarks and recommending he attend anti-discrimination, diversity and sensitivity training.

ANN ARBOR, MI The vision Ann Arbor voters approved in 2018 for a “Center of the City” urban park and civic commons has yet to happen, but could it begin this year?
The consensus seems to be that any kind of elaborate transformation of the downtown library block to resemble a central park is still a longer-term idea.
