Many of the buildings in downtown Cambridge are the original structures built in the early days of the city and have historical significance, either for the role they played in the development of Cambridge or for the notable people who visited them or events held within.
The Berwick
The former Berwick Hotel constructed at 615 Wheeling Ave. in 1887 is now known as the Berwick Building and houses The Cambridge Area Chamber of Commerce and the United Way offices, as well as senior apartments. ....

A vehicle Monday afternoon was blocking the fire hydrant on Moffat Boulevard directly across from Phillip’s Automotive. Trucks and vehicles have blocked the fire hydrant off and on for the past six consecutive days and numerous times over the past two years without any response from the city in terms of enforcement or simply painting the curb red to remind people not to park there.

The oldest synagogue in Palm Beach county, Temple Beth Israel, is being considered again to be designated as a historic place.

WEST PALM BEACH, FL. — The oldest synagogue in Palm Beach County, Temple Beth Israel, is being considered again to be designated as a historic place.
It found a forever home in 2012 by moving to Temple Beth El’s campus and located off N. Poinsettia Avenue. It is now Yeckes Family Chapel.
According to the city, a property; even once it’s deemed historic with the land underneath, it does need to have a new designation so that it carries with the new parcel. ....

James D. McClaren
This is in loving memory of James D. McClaren, 87, who passed away peacefully at Crandall Medical Center, Wednesday afternoon February 17, 2021. He was born November 11, 1933 in Salem, Ohio to the late James N. and Dorothy (Cobbs) McClaren.
James served in the United States Army, 4th Infantry Division. He worked as a draftsman at Electric Furnace retiring in 1998. James was a member of Winona United Methodist Church, where he served on the board, held various positions and taught adult Sunday School for a number of years. In addition, he was a member of the International Order of Odd Fellows and served on the United Local School Board. ....
