As a midwife in South Florida with a practice that is 85-90% Black, it was difficult to know what to say to my clients in the wake of the murder of Ma’Khia Bryant. With International Day of the Midwife on May 5, we are reminded once again that state violence is a big factor in why Black midwives are necessary.

Maternity services in Wanaka are on the move.
Te Whare Kohaka o Wanaka/Wanaka Maternity Hub co-ordinator and registered midwife Morgan Weathington said the hub would be moving out of its interim base at Wanaka Lakes Health Centre from today to set up in its permanent home at 61 Brownston St.
Weathington said the hub s new base would provide greater certainty around maternity care in the Upper Clutha.
It s nice to have some good news it s been quite a grind. ....

Bun Rany, the wife of Prime Minister Hun Sen and the President of the Cambodian Red Cross (CRC) called on all pregnant women to take care to avoid infection with Covid-19 and to schedule regular health check-ups with their doctors.
