Midtown Reader reopens fully for Independent Bookstore Day
Special to the Tallahassee Democrat
On Saturday, April 24, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Midtown Reader will join indie bookstores across the country in celebrating Independent Bookstore Day with festivities, sales and special offers designed around the theme “Fabulous Five,” as the store enters its fifth year as Tallahassee’s neighborhood indie bookstore.
Founded in November 2016 by owner Sally Bradshaw, Midtown Reader is Tallahassee’s only independent, general-subject bookstore selling new books. The store was recently profiled by Publishers’ Weekly.
On Saturday, the bookstore will reopen to full capacity, lifting its five-customer-at-a-time limit, as more Leon County residents become vaccinated and COVID rates in the community continue to drop. Masks will still be required, and customers are asked to maintain a respectful social distance.
