STAMFORD, Conn., Aug. 02, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) Syracuse will be the final stop of a national tour on Wednesday. A New Hampshire medical device company and a Connecticut-based nonprofit committed to providing revolutionary medical technology to help military veterans take their next steps forward are donating high-tech personal mobility devices to Veteran Administration medical centers and individuals.

The COVID-19 death rate for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) is higher than the general population in several states across the U.S., according to a new study published in Disability and Health Journal.
The research team that conducted the study analyzed data from 12 U.S. jurisdictions: Arizona, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington and Washington, D.C.
The death rates were higher in all jurisdictions for those with IDD who live in congregate settings such as residential group homes. The results for people with IDD who do not live in congregate settings were mixed depending on the state, with case-fatality rates higher, lower or similar to the general population. ....

OCC To Host Three Commencement Ceremonies Saturday

SYRACUSE, NY – Onondaga Community College will celebrate its 58th commencement ceremony this Saturday, May 15 at 9 a.m., 1 p.m., and 5 p.m. in the SRC Arena, located at Onondaga Community College, 4585 West Seneca Turnpike, Syracuse, NY 13215-4585.
Over 400 students total will participate in the three ceremonies. These students completed their coursework in either the fall 2020, spring 2021, or summer 2021 semesters. To meet all social distance requirements the following procedures are in place.
All event attendees, including members of the media, must have either proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test within three days of the ceremonies. Each student may bring a maximum of two guests. ....
