An international symposium has been held in the Japanese city of Nagoya to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Ping-Pong Diplomacy, with participants looking forward to promoting the sound development of China-U.S. and China-Japan relations through sports exchanges.
Fifty years ago, exchanges between ping-pong players at the 31st World Table Tennis Championships in Nagoya paved the way for China and the United States to finally normalize bilateral ties, breaking the ice in two decades of estranged Sino-U.S. relations. ....

Beijing has delivered a sharpened warning to Tokyo, saying that respecting China s internal affairs is a minimum requirement for Japan as a close neighbor, and Japan should not stretch its long arm too far .

BEIJING (Global Times/ANN): During the time when a slew of hostile moves and statements from Japan has pushed its relations with Beijing to a new crossroads, Chinese State Councillor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi s 90-minute phone call with his Japanese counterpart was called by observers a timely reminder for Tokyo to stop heading in the wrong direction by ganging up with a certain superpower, and that Tokyo should pull bilateral ties to the right track.
