JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - Both Jonesboro hospitals have been busy giving out the coronavirus vaccine, and itâs almost time for the second round for many employees.
NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital and St. Bernards Medical Center have administered thousands of COVID-19 vaccines.
As of Jan. 5, St. Bernards administered over 3,000 vaccines, and NEA Baptist administered over 900.
While both hospitalâs employees have had the typical immune responses such as sore arms and brief cold-like symptoms, theyâre ready for round 2. ....

FLORENCE, Ala. (WAFF) - Lauderdale county remains at a high risk for the spread of COVID-19 according to the Alabama Department of Public health dashboard.
On Monday, Florence mayor Andy Betterton announced he is in quarantine following a positive COVID test.
More than 1,000 cases have been confirmed in the county within the last two weeks.
Lauderdale county Commissioner chairman Danny Pettus said county leaders are using all of the $2.6 million in cares act funding to combat the virus.
Doctor Karen Landers with the Alabama Department of Public Health says the state is still in the first phase of the vaccination plan but adds that more than 40,000 doses have already been distributed. ....

So grateful for nurses and social workers at Queen of the Valley

My dad, Steve Evans, passed away at Queen of the Valley hospital on Thanksgiving Day. His 10-year battle with congestive heart failure included multiple ICU stays and surgeries, so I feel deeply familiar with hospitals. I know that nurses, not doctors, protect their patientsâ holistic well-being ferociously. My routine was to bring snacks for the nursing staff every day during my dadâs hospital stays, which I couldnât do this time because of COVID. I also used to send thank you cards when he was discharged. We never needed to rely on social workers. It wasnât easy, but we navigated his insurance benefits to get his basic needs met. That wasnât the case this time so a thank you card isnât enough. Let me tell you why. ....
