U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen tried to sell President Joe Biden s $2.2 trillion corporate tax hike and infrastructure plans to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, saying that the proposals will improve the profitability and competitiveness of American corporations.
Yellen told a Chamber online conference that the American Jobs Plan infrastructure investments would have a direct payoff to the American people, create jobs and simply return the corporate tax rate toward historical norms. ....

PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz on Sunday warned the government to leave decisions that affect that lives of people, to the true representatives of the people, and to stop standing between the people and their leaders .
Her remarks came as she paid a visit to party member Javed Latif s family in Sheikhupura.

WASHINGTON: US President Joe Biden expressed his grave concern over violence in Israel and Gaza in a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Saturday while separately telling Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas that Hamas must cease firing rockets.
Speaking on the sixth day of a paroxysm of Israeli-Palestinian violence that has left scores dead or wounded, Biden expressed his strong support for Israel s right to defend itself against rocket attacks by Hamas and other activist groups, in his call with Netanyahu, while also emphasising his clear concern over the deadly flare-up and casualties on both sides. ....

The Greek artist Yannis Tsarouchis is finally having some well deserved recognition thanks to a new opportunity in Lincoln Park. Housed at Wrightwood 659, there are around 200 works gathered together from private collections on four floors in a modern museum.
Various mediums are featured throughout the space including photography, statues, sketches and many paintings using watercolor, oil and the gouache method, a water and glue mixture of pigments. He designed a theatrical costume for singer Maria Callas and it was treat to see him backstage with her in one photo.
Patrons may stroll about taking in the artist s legacy at their leisure after being spaced out over time for safe conditions in the gallery at 659 W. Wrightwood Avenue. ....

The Sindh High Court (SHC) has directed the provincial home department to ensure that one women police station is housed in every district of the province and all posts be filled preferably within three months by way of recruitment rules.
Hearing an application with regard to the woman shelter homes, a single bench of the SHC headed by Justice Salahuddin Panhwar inquired the home secretary about the issuance of a notification with regard to the women police station, to which the secretary submitted that the women police stations were to be notified by the department, though in different districts they had established women police stations which were without SNEs and notification. ....
