As the country pushes to get more people vaccinated, researchers are now looking at mixing and matching different COVID vaccines as a booster for fully vaccinated people.
“We call it mix and match because we’re looking at people who got any of the three EUA authorized vaccines: the Pfizer, the Moderna, or the Janssen vaccine,” said Dr. Robert Atmar, one of the trial’s principal investigators. “At least in the current part of the study, we’re boosting each of those three groups with the Moderna vaccine.”

NEW YORK – Nine members of the New York Yankees, including players and staff, have tested positive for coronavirus.
All of them had been vaccinated with the single-dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine. The infections may cause some to question that vaccine’s effectiveness.
The information submitted for its emergency use authorization indicated the Johnson and Johnson vaccine had a 66% efficacy against any symptomatic COVID, including mild illness. When you consider protection against moderate to severe COVID, the efficacy went to 72% in the United States. Against severe disease it was 85% effective.

He says government is slowly making progress in this regard.
"The process of releasing State land for agricultural purpose is targeted at vulnerable groups and our society and will empower woman, youth and people with disabilities."
He said we're ready to begin phase two of our coronavirus vaccination programme.
"We are confident that we are going to receive our Johnson and Johnson supply and we will be able to catch up on our phase one, so we are going to proceed and we are going to be patient. We are going to start on the 17th if everything goes well."

Uganda plans to import Covid-19 vaccines from elsewhere as a supplier in India is grappling with a surge in cases domestically, President Yoweri Museveni said on Saturday.
"We were getting the vaccine from India, but they are now struggling. We shall get the J and J (Johnson and Johnson) vaccine and also import another batch from Cuba. That's our strategy," he said in a televised address.

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Another group of Americans could become eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine as early as this week: teenagers.
The Pfizer vaccine already has FDA Emergency Use Authorization for people ages 16 and up and could be the first to get approval for kids ages 12-15.
According to a press release from the company, their vaccine showed 100% efficacy against infection among kids in that age range. The teens in the trial also showed higher levels of antibodies than people in the 16-25 age range. Pfizer said side effects were "generally consistent" between the two age groups.

Canada Halts J&J Vax Rollout After Violations by Maryland Manufacturer

1 May 2021
OTTAWA, Ontario (AP) – Plans to distribute the first 300,000 doses of the Johnson & Johnson (J&J) COVID-19 vaccine in Canada next week are on hold after Health Canada learned part of them were manufactured at a Maryland facility that messed up the ingredients in 15 million doses bound for the U.S. market.
The Emergent Biosolutions facility in Baltimore was recently cited by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for violations including cleaning and sterilization failures, the potential for cross-contamination and failure to follow required protocols.
The FDA ordered the facility to stop making more J&J vaccine until the problems are corrected and the earlier mistake on the doses resulted in all 15 million being destroyed.

RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Virginia is about to get another massive shipment of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
Dr. Danny Avula says more than 19,000 doses will arrive on May 3.
Those doses will be prioritized for colleges, universities, rural areas and hospitalized patients.
The CDC reminds people that the risk of blood clots from the vaccine is extremely rare.
However, polls show most people are now unwilling to get the Johnson & Johnson shot.

Right now, researchers are still trying to get to the bottom of the blood clot mystery with possible connections to the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine.
But ABC15 Health Insider Dr. Janice Johnston of Redirect Health says even if there is a connection, it's still very uncommon.
"The biggest thing to keep in mind is that this is very rare," she explains. "There have been six cases in about seven million doses. To try to put that into perspective. This is a very rare type of thing... but it is significant and potentially very serious."

TAMPA, Fla. — The Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine is being distributed once again after a brief pause over concerns of severe blood clots. People in the Tampa Bay area are already rolling up their sleeves for this vaccine, while local doctors explain what you need to know about the J&J shot.
Both Laurie and Leland Massee got their J&J dose at the Tampa Greyhound Track vaccination site Monday.
“You don’t have to come back for the second shot, and it’s supposed to do the same thing, so why not?” said Laurie.
