As the country pushes to get more people vaccinated, researchers are now looking at mixing and matching different COVID vaccines as a booster for fully vaccinated people.
“We call it mix and match because we’re looking at people who got any of the three EUA authorized vaccines: the Pfizer, the Moderna, or the Janssen vaccine,” said Dr. Robert Atmar, one of the trial’s principal investigators. “At least in the current part of the study, we’re boosting each of those three groups with the Moderna vaccine.”

Canada on Tuesday recommended mixing and matching of AstraZeneca, Pfizer and Moderna Covid-19 vaccines.
The National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) updated its guidance to provinces and territories on mixing and matching second doses of Covid-19 vaccines and advised Canadians to combine either the AstraZeneca-Oxford, Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna shots interchangeably in certain situations, reported CBC News.

Based on the study from UK and Spain, Canada, on Tuesday recommended mixing and matching second doses of COVID-19 vaccines. The country is using AstraZeneca, Pfizer, and Moderna and has suggested citizens to combine jabs interchangeably in certain situations. The National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) has extended its support to the decision and updated its guidance to provinces and territories on mixing and matching.
