Halton Haven secures new £1k grant
A Halton hospice has secured £1,000 from the Cadent Foundation after being nominated by the gas network’s employees and chosen by their customers.
Halton Haven Hospice provides skilled nursing and palliative care for people whose illness is treatable but cannot be cured, aiming to secure the best quality of life for patients and their families.
Through its ‘connecting colleagues, customers and communities’ initiative, Cadent employees in Cheshire were asked to trial a new approach to the way local grants are allocated.
They nominated local charities which were then shortlisted and then put forward to a public vote with around 1,000 customers having their say. ....

Derian House Children's Hospice gets £3k boost from Cadent grant


A LANCASHIRE children s hospice has been awarded a £3000 grant from the Cadent Foundation after being voted for by Cadent customers across the region.
Cadent employees shortlisted a number of local charities and more than 1,000 customers voted with Derian House getting the top grant while Action for ASD in Burnley was a runner-up scooping £1k.
Caroline Taylor, Communications Manager, said: “It will mean the world to the seriously ill babies, children and young people we look after here at Derian to receive this money, especially as our donations have significantly declined due to the coronavirus pandemic, with the forced cancellation of events and temporary closure of our charity shops. ....
