Atlanta business group sues MLB for moving All-Star Game
Job Creators Network, a conservative organization that represents small businesses, is suing Major League Baseball for moving the July All-Star Game out of Atlanta. In a 21-page complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on Monday, Job Creators Network seeks the return of the game to the Georgia capital, $100 million in damages to local and state small businesses, and $1 billion in punitive damages. The group referred to events that caused the league’s decision, including Republican Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp’s signing of a new voting law in March. WASHINGTON — A US Capitol Police officer has been cleared of criminal wrongdoing for fatally shooting Air Force veteran Ashli Babbitt as she attempted to breach a set of doors deep in the Capitol during the January siege, federal prosecutors in D.C. announced Wednesday.
Authorities determined there was insufficient evidence to prove Babbitt’s civil rights were violated, and that it was reasonable for the officer to believe he was firing in self-defense or in defense of members of Congress and aides who were fleeing the House chamber. Prosecutors did not identify the officer. ....

Major League Baseball’s decision to relocate its July All-Star Game from Atlanta because of Georgia’s new election law has people choosing sides and fact-checkers yelling, “Foul!”
Commissioner Rob Manfred announced on April 2 he was moving the midsummer event and the MLB draft from Atlanta, saying he made the decision after consulting teams, players, and players’ organizations. Others say he folded to political and corporate pressure, noting the Georgia election law expands, not restricts, voter access. They call MLB’s decision harmful to the city and the individuals it claims to defend, and they pointed out the league just sealed a deal with a Communist-backed tech company in China, where free elections don’t exist. ....

Wyoming Gov. Mark Gordon signed a bill into law Tuesday that will require residents to show some form of identification when voting in person in the next election.
While some state Democrats criticized the bill as voter suppression, state Rep. Chuck Gray, a Republican, called it a victory for the citizens of Wyoming, according to the Cowboy State Daily.
It is a necessary function of our Republic to provide our citizens with confidence that our elections are secure, fair, and valid, he said. I am proud that we were able to meet this important milestone for Wyoming. Gray was a sponsor of the bill. ....

Senator Tim Scott on Tuesday joined the growing backlash against the MLB s decision to move its All-Star Game from Atlanta to Denver
The move is in protest over Georgia s new voting law, which strengthens identification requirements for absentee ballots
It also shortens early voting periods for runoffs and makes it illegal for members of the public to offer food and water to voters waiting in line
