LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) â When Grassroots Pharmacy received its first batch of the Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccine in March, appointments for all 100 doses were booked up within thirty minutes.
âOnce the appointments filled up, we had to go to a waitlist, of course, and our phones were ringing every two minutes, said pharmacy owner Dr. Shelley Roberts. âIt didnât surprise me, but it was a little bit stressful.â
The initial wait list grew by over 600 names within the week, according to Dr. Roberts. Grassroots Pharmacy received its third batch of the J&J vaccine on Wednesday. Staff spent the morning working through the waitlist to fill slots for the 200 available vaccine appointments. ....

Baptist Health Lexington has had a twinspirational last few months.
The hospital has had 18 sets of twins born since the year began, a 3% increase from this time last year. The most recent twin births happened last Wednesday.
It s been kind of fun having so many twins, said Dr. Tonia Reid, who works in the neonatal intensive care unit.
There is no explanation for the increase, hospital spokeswoman Harriett Hendren said. But the anticipation of twins has become hospital chatter,Reid said. ....

On March 6, it will be a year since Kentucky confirmed the first case of COVID-19 – a patient admitted to UK Chandler Hospital. A few days later, on March 11, the University of Kentucky announced it would transition its campus of more than 30,000 students to online instruction – initially just for two weeks following spring break but eventually from March 23 through the end of the Spring 2020 semester.
Additionally, on March 20, UK President Eli Capilouto announced all employees able to work remotely would begin to do so, except for those in patient care, public safety, facilities maintenance and other areas where work must be performed on-site.
