THE HAGUE - The deployment of healthcare professionals who traveled from the Netherlands to Curaçao to help with the care of corona patients has not had a significant effect on healthcare in the Netherlands. That is the answer of Undersecretary Paul Blokhuis to written questions from the Dutch Member of Parliament Pepijn van Houwelingen (Forum for Democracy).
The undersecretary emphasizes that those involved have volunteered through the organization Extra hands for health care and have done so in consultation with their employer and colleagues. WILLEMSTAD - According to the Dutch Member of Parliament Sjoerd Sjoerdsma, the Netherlands must ensure that the five Curaçao fishermen who are currently incarcerated in Venezuela all get a lawyer.
Sjoerdsma made this statement to the media recently. He responds to the answers that Minister of Foreign Affairs Stef Blok gave earlier this week to his questions about the five fishermen - it concerns four Curaçaoans and a Venezuelan with a residence permit.
Sjoerdsma believes that the Netherlands can do more for the fishermen. The five men have been detained since March last year and are still waiting for their case to be heard. ....
