President Joe Biden s administration is once again sweating confirmation of a prominent nominee – as Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin phoned lynchpin senator Joe Manchin to talk up Pentagon nominee Colin Kahl.
Austin s call to the West Virginia Democrat Tuesday night came amid apparent reservations the powerful West Virginia Democrat holds about the nominee, who served during the Obama Administration.
Kahl served as national security adviser to Democrat Biden when he was vice president, and is his first Pentagon nominee to come under serious pressure after Republicans portrayed him as hyper-partisan.

Senator Tom Cotton leads Republicans slamming Dems for ramming $1.9trillion COVID relief bill through Congress and says prisoners like the Boston Bomber and Dylann Roof will be among those getting $1,400 stimulus checks
Cotton reeled off criminals including mass murderer Roof, Boston Bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and drug trafficker Aaron Shamo who will get checks
Those earning less than $75,000 are eligible including the 1.4M US inmates
The previous two stimulus checks of $1,200 and $600 were also paid to inmates and Cotton voted in favor of each of those bills
