Texas Loses Original Jurisdiction Case at Supreme Court

The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday ruled against Texas in a dispute with New Mexico over water rights. The case and decision present a somewhat uncommon instance of the court’s original jurisdiction.

Brett Kavanaugh denied a motion by the Lone Star State to review a 2015 determination by the Pecos River Master. The master previously determined that New Mexico was entitled to a credit for lost rainwater after Texas asked for the water to be stored in a federal reservoir for use during drought season–which resulted in a massive depletion of the resource. ....

Senators Ted Cruz and John Cornyn disagree over President Trump's 2020 Election lawsuit before Supreme Court


While Texas lawsuit challenging the 2020 election results in four states continues to draw support from congressional Republicans, the state s two United States Senators are split over the issue.
Sen. Ted Cruz was asked by President Donald Trump to argue the case before the United States Supreme Court if the high court decides to hear it.
Sen. John Cornyn said Friday that he s not so sure about the case.
I do not understand the legal theory, Cornyn said. I don t want other states having a chance to change Texas law based on a similar effort.
Trump s challenge to overturn the 2020 presidential election is gaining support from Republicans in the House as 106 of them have said they re backing the lawsuit filed by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, including 12 Texas congressmen. ....

Ralph Nader was invited to speak at University of the South a few months after the election George W. Bush won over Al Gore. Mr. Nader was asked how he could reconcile the votes he took away from Mr. Gore, because they would have made Mr. Gore the winner. His response was to the point. So today 13 state attorneys general join in the Texas appeal to the Supreme Court to hear of four states who have narrow wins for Mr. Biden over the President. The allegation is constitutional rules were broken and some voters may have voted in violation of the U.S. Constitution.
