Former Trump adviser and chairman of his inaugural committee arrested: According to the Washington Post, businessman Thomas J. Barrack was arrested today in California on federal charges of violation of foreign lobbying laws, obstruction of justice, and making false statements. Barrack, along with two others, have been accused of acting and conspiring to act as agents of the United Arab Emirates between April 2016 and April 2018. Officials claim that Barrack used his relationship with Trump to lobby for the UAE without properly alerting the government of his position. A spokesman for Barrack says he will plead not guilty. The artist known as Tusing spends “huge chunks” of his year on outdoor expeditions and has been going on “big mile trips” since 2017. Last year, he spent most of his summer on the Continental Divide trail, a thru-hike (which he defines as a “terminus to terminus” scenic trail) he soon hopes to continue where he left off (a practice known as “lashing” in the hiking community). If anyone turned 2020 s many lemons into sparkling lemonade, it was Sam Means. The musician and head of local merch company Hello Merch went from a planned reunion with The Format to releasing an excellent five-song EP, I m Sorry. The project clearly owes something to Means main band, and there s a kind of earnestness and heart-on-sleeve mentality linking both sounds. But from there, Means spins in 70s-style folk-rock (a la Stephen Stills) and 90s alternative (think Teenage Fanclub) for energetic jams on American politics and doomed love. If there are any downsides, the EP feels too brief; Means cuts right to the heart of this moment with breathtaking efficiency. It s the sort of project that almost makes you glad 2020 went haywire because from that chaos we got to experience a hugely talented artist display his true strengths. ....
