Lifeguards needed to save pool season at Caledonia

Caledonia State Park in Fayetteville will have a Memorial Day weekend unlike in the past. In an ongoing attempt to hire lifeguards for its pool facility, the park posted online stating that the pool will be closed for the start of the season.
Due to staffing complications, the Caledonia State Park Pool will be closed for the start of the season. Unfortunately, at this time we don t know if we will be able to open for the season. We are continuing to attempt to hire lifeguards at this time. Thank you for your continued understanding and patience. ....

Have you ever been sexually abused? Were you sexually abused as a child? I realize that those are fairly direct and personal questions.
For me the answers to those questions are now, yes, and yes.
If you would have asked me those questions not much more than a few years ago, I probably would have answered no and no.
Times change, people change.
While my father and mother were alive, I told myself there is no need to publicly tell anybody about the abuse I suffered. My father was a friend of my abuser. They both belonged to the same Rotary Club, the Rotary Club of Chambersburg. They both shared an affinity for sailing, especially in the Caribbean. They were both active members of the same church, the Presbyterian Church of the Falling Spring, which was formed by the founder of Chambersburg, Benjamin Chambers. The abuser and my father were both active members of the Chambersburg Chamber of Commerce. ....

Iconic 'Mister Ed' dies at age 84


He was an actor, businessman, friend, family man, traveler and eternal optimist.
Gotwalt, better known as Mister Ed, died Friday at the age of 84. Friends and family members who gathered Sunday via Zoom said Gotwalt had enough experiences for two lifetimes.
Gotwalt’s fame began on Feb. 26, 1975, when he and his wife, Pat, opened Mister Ed’s: The Area’s Most Unusual General Store in Orrtanna on their wedding anniversary. He died on the same date 46 years later.
“He was such a magnetic personality, everyone wanted to be part of what he was doing,” his granddaughter, Nicole Bucher, said.
To Nicole, he “was the world’s great grandpa” who not only embraced her childhood desire to take horseback riding lessons but became a fellow student. ....
