India Christian Missionaries, Church Leaders Die In Pandemic

NEW DELHI (BosNewsLife)-– Christian missionaries and church leaders already suffering persecution in several areas are among those dying of severe symptoms of COVID-19 raging in India, aid workers say.
News of their deaths came as footage emerged of crowds fighting over oxygen tanks in this mainly Hindu nation where years of neglect and corruption added to hospital difficulties. BosNewsLife also received dramatic footage of a rundown hospital in Guntur city, in India’s south-eastern state of Andhra Pradesh. The hospital was overwhelmed with dead bodies in corridors and on beds.
“Please, please, please. Pray for my country as things worsen,” said David Paul, director of  local Christian mission group Ruben Ministries who provided the video material. Paul told BosNewsLife that many Christians and others suffer in Andhra Pradesh where he is based. ....

West Papua Churches Urge UN To Halt Attacks

JAKARTA, INDONESIA (BosNewsLife)– The West Papua Council of Churches urges the United Nations to help end a “humanitarian tragedy” in Indonesia’s Papua region where it says Indonesia’s military kills Christian leaders.
Thousands have been displaced due to the violence, which increased since last year, according to rights activists. Among those targeted was Pastor Yeremia Zanambani of the Protestant Evangelical Church, who was killed in the Intan Jaya regency area on September 19, investigators said.
A report from the Indonesian National Commission on Human Rights said that Pastor Zanambani was tortured before being shot by Indonesia’s army. ....

BREAKING: Biden Recognizes Armenian Genocide; Turkey Outraged

WASHINGTON/ISTANBUL (BosNewsLife) More than a century after one of the worst massacres of Christians, U.S. President Joe Biden formally declared the systemic killing and deportation of some 1.5 million Armenians by Ottoman Empire forces “genocide.”
His announcement prompted a sharp response from Turkey, the successor state of the Ottoman Empire, which has denied that Armenians were singled out for killings.
Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu warned his country “will not be given lessons on our history from anyone.”
But a grateful Armenia appreciated Biden’s “principled position” as a step toward “the restoration of truth and historical justice.” ....
