Tale of two Palaces - Star of Mysore

Can the Royals revive the Jewel on the Hill?
While Lalitha Mahal Palace can be a luxurious Palace Hotel, the truly luxurious hotel in Mysuru, if revived, has to be the Rajendra Vilas Palace atop the Hill. It was and still can be a luxury hotel with a hill station feel in the heart of a city, an unmatchable USP.
Three years ago speaking to SOM, Pramoda Devi Wadiyar, ‘Trustee’ of the property,  when asked  if she was willing for a joint venture to run the Rajendra Vilas, she said, “I am willing to consider it and have had a discussion. However, my first priority is to retain the property. I do not want to relinquish the ownership at any cost. In the last three-and-a-half years, I have cleared a lot of liabilities. Today my ancestors and my husband can be proud of me.”

Cross-country drive in a BMW M8 Coupe: Fly Another Day - Feature

AD
Who would have thought that driving could be safer than flying? It isn’t actually, and certainly not in India, where a life is lost every four minutes in a road accident. The pandemic, however, has turned everything on its head. With the virus still lingering, a lot of people find it safer to spend long hours (even days) on our highways, risking life and limb, rather than sit next to a stranger on a short flight. Compared to a plane, a car is your own private space, your bubble on wheels and it’s this form of isolated travel that only a car can offer, which has unwittingly rekindled the romance of the road. Driving is, indeed, the new flying.
