Wayne LaPierre, the CEO of the National Rifle Association, frequently sought refuge on a friend s yacht when he received threats in the wake of a mass shooting, it has been revealed.
LaPierre s use of the 108-foot yacht owned by a Hollywood producer pal was disclosed in a deposition unsealed on Monday during NRA bankruptcy proceedings in a Texas court.
They simply let me use it as a security retreat because they knew the threat that I was under. And I was basically under presidential threat without presidential security in terms of the number of threats I was getting, LaPierre said in the deposition, according to the Daily News. ....

A quarter of a million pupils could be wrongly told to self-isolate after receiving ‘false positive’ Covid test results, a teaching union claimed yesterday.
But the Government insisted its school testing regime was 99.9 per cent reliable, giving only a ‘minimal chance’ of an incorrect reading.
Lateral flow tests are being used three times on every secondary school pupil in the first two weeks of term. They will then test themselves twice a week at home.
With 3.4million secondary schoolchildren nationwide, it could mean more than 6,000 false positives a week, even if the test is 99.9 per cent reliable. ....

Former Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker has claimed that American culture and college campuses in particular are under siege from woke activists who want to restrict free speech and prevent debate.
America is under siege. We see it on our campuses, Walker said in a speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Orlando, Florida on Friday.
We see it in our culture, and increasingly we see it in our communications with the censorship from Big Tech, left-wing professors, liberal activists, mass media, even some of our major corporations are attempting to cancel conservative thought, he added.  ....

Members of the armed forces will be drafted in to help give Covid tests to thousands of school and college students in England.
The Ministry of Defence said 1,500 military personnel would be deployed to ensure that testing systems were up and running by the time pupils returned for the new term in January.
It comes as ministers were warned that keeping schools shut in January will harm children s prospects.
Next term is already being postponed by a week for most secondary pupils to allow for coronavirus testing. ....
