The Rhode Island doctor has been leading national efforts to conduct gun safety research and pushing for more federal funding for years.

COVID is latest fight for RI's Dr. Megan Ranney


The cavalry against the coronavirus arrived this week in the form of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. To much fanfare, battle-weary health care workers eagerly rolled up their sleeves to get the potentially lifesaving shot. On Friday morning, Megan Ranney, a Brown-Lifespan emergency physician, was among them.
“It feels like such a momentous moment,” Ranney said minutes after getting her shot. “This is the true light at the end of the tunnel. There is no better way to prevent disease than a vaccination. But, for it to really transform what we’re going through, we’re going to need everyone to get it.”  ....
