Dems Seek $300 Million in Taxpayer Dollars for CDC Gun Research :: Guns.com

Dems Seek $300 Million in Taxpayer Dollars for CDC Gun Research
Democrats this week introduced bicameral bills to Congress that aim to give the Centers for Disease Control big bucks to support research into guns.
The Gun Violence Prevention Research Act of 2021 would appropriate $50 million to the CDC each fiscal year from 2022 through 2027, for the purpose of conducting or supporting research on firearms safety or gun violence prevention. The legislation was introduced jointly by Rep. Carolyn Maloney, D-N.Y., and Sen. Edward Markey, D-Mass., who were not coy about what laws the research would be used as justification to enact.
We know of the commonsense solutions like the need for better and more robust background checks and the need to renew the assault weapons ban, but we must also seek other solutions,” said Maloney in a statement. And we do that by studying gun violence like the public health crisis it is.   ....

Bill Would End Out of State Gun Purchases :: Guns.com

Bill Would End Out of State Gun Purchases
Democrats on Capitol Hill last week introduced a measure that would end direct legal gun sales to out of state residents.
H.R. 647 would prohibit a Federal Firearms Licensee from transferring a shotgun or a rifle to a person who they feel does not reside in the same state. Handguns already are subject to a state resident only sales restriction, which is a holdover from the days prior to federal instant background checks. The proposal to move long arm sales under the same 1960s guideline comes from a Colorado Congressman who argues it is needed.  ....

Regs Ensuring Fair Banking Access for Gun Industry Iced
A federal banking regulator has now pumped the brakes on a planned rule that would have ended discrimination against firearm-related companies seeking financial services.
The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, an independent bureau of the U.S. Treasury Department, last year had proposed a regulation to ensure that banks and savings associations offer and provide fair access to services. The change came after some banks had reportedly denied financial services to specific industries following calls for boycotts. The OCC specifically mentioned in their reasoning behind the regulation that Makers of shotguns and hunting rifles have reportedly been debanked in recent years.   ....

The people s champ when it comes to home
AR-15 builds is shifting its hometown to one that is more welcoming and less taxing when it comes to firearms.
Aero Precision announced last week they are moving to a new facility with 268,000 square feet of floor space in the Lakewood Industrial Park, the city that is home to Washington s Joint Base Lewis-McChord. As such, Aero will be leaving the city of Tacoma – which has recently adopted a mandatory tax on every firearm and box of ammunition sold at retail – behind.
We are very excited to be working with the City of Lakewood on our relocation, said Scott Dover, CEO and founder. The city representatives have been extremely welcoming, and we foresee Lakewood as the long-term home for Aero Precision as we continue to position ourselves as a top-tier manufacturing facility in the state of Washington. ....
