Several shots were fired but no one was injured. The culprit spent weeks on the run.

Auckland detectives launched a large-scale investigation involving lengthy manhunts and officers from across Tamaki Makaurau, Northland and the National Organised Crime Group.
They targeted Head Hunters gang pads in Mt Wellington and Browns Bay and Mongols-linked premises in Silverdale and Murrays Bay.
Detective Inspector Kevin McNaughton, of the Waitematā CIB, said 19 people had now been arrested when announcing the conclusion of the operation on Tuesday.
McNaughton said seven of those are members or associates of the Mongols, a notorious outlaw motorcycle club headquartered in California, whose Kiwi presence has grown with the arrival of 501 deportees from Australia.

Police have cracked a major milestone by seizing more than $500 million in cash and assets over a four-year period.
As part of Operation Worthington, 16 search warrants were executed throughout Auckland on Wednesday, netting 44kgs of meth, a large amount of other drugs - including ephedrine, pseudoephedrine, ketamine and MDMA - and millions of dollars worth of cash, property and cars.
More than 200 charges have been laid against 21 people as part of that sting.
Police have now seized $513 million worth of cash and assets since the annual reporting target came into effect on July 1, 2017, according to Assistant Commissioner, Investigations Lauano Sue Schwalger.

An escalating dispute between the Head Hunters and the Mongols was behind the shooting at a 5-star waterfront hotel yesterday, police say.
A gun was fired soon after 9am at the Sofitel hotel at the Viaduct, sparking a citywide response with armed officers and the Eagle helicopter.
Detective Inspector John Sutton said the incident - described by witnesses as "a moment of terror" - was linked to a shooting at the Head Hunters gang pad in Mt Wellington last weekend.

Specialist police team formed as violence escalates among gangs

Detective Superintendent Greg Williams, national manager of the police's organised crime group, said the new Firearms Investigation team was committed to stopping firearms-related violence.
"The team's key focus is investigating and prosecuting people engaged in the diversion, conversions, theft and manufacture of firearms for financial gain," Williams said.
"The team will be linking in with the work already being done across all police districts on supply of firearms to gangs and organised crime."
