A shotgun police seized from the Head Hunters during their months-long investigation. Auckland detectives launched a large-scale investigation involving lengthy manhunts and officers from across Tamaki Makaurau, Northland and the National Organised Crime Group. They targeted Head Hunters gang pads in Mt Wellington and Browns Bay and Mongols-linked premises in Silverdale and Murrays Bay. Detective Inspector Kevin McNaughton, of the Waitematā CIB, said 19 people had now been arrested when announcing the conclusion of the operation on Tuesday. McNaughton said seven of those are members or associates of the Mongols, a notorious outlaw motorcycle club headquartered in California, whose Kiwi presence has grown with the arrival of 501 deportees from Australia.
A spokeswoman said investigators believed the firebombing was linked to tensions between the Mongols and Head Hunters.

Northside Powersports was hit by an arson attack at Easter Weekend. Police are still hunting for the culprits. The charred husk of the car which did catch alight can be seen around the side of the premises. Detectives also continue to investigate two shootings linked to the conflict. A week after the firebombing, the Marua Rd clubrooms of the Head Hunters in suburban Auckland were sprayed with about 30 bullets from what was believed to be a military-style semi-automatic rifle. The following Thursday, April 15, the two gangs were involved in a shooting in the lobby of the Sofitel, a five-star hotel in Auckland’s Viaduct.
Inside were members of the Head Hunters gang, whose new pad is just around the corner in a Manga Rd warehouse. Molotov cocktails were repeatedly lobbed at the mechanics business, setting a car on fire in front of the premises and singeing the outside of the building. The building didn t catch fire but a broken window, blackened cladding and the charred husk of a car were outside when
