CJN Lauds Women Judges for Displaying High Level of Integrity

The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Ibrahim Muhammad, on Thursday commended Nigerian women judges for displaying high level of integrity in the discharge of their judicial functions in spite of challenges.
The CJN stressed that going by their hard work, female judges would soon take over the judiciary in Lagos.
Justice Muhammad, who spoke in Abuja at the biennial conference of the National Association of Women Judges in Nigeria (NAWJN), however said he was not surprised by their performance because they have expertise that can’t be doubted.
The CJN, who was represented by a Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Olabode Rhodes-Vivour, pleaded with women judges to continue to make giant strides in the discharge of their judicial functions. ....

Appeal Court President, Dongban-Mensem, Urges Female Judges to Unite

Court of Appeal President, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, yesterday harped on the need for female judges in the country to unite.
She stressed that unity amongst female judges is crucial if they must succeed and excel in their career, adding that they are “despised specie.”
She gave the charge when a delegate of the National Association of Women Judges in Nigeria (NAWJN) paid a courtesy visit to her office in Abuja.
The delegation was led by secretary of the association, Justice Esther Lolo of the Federal High Court in Kaduna.
Welcoming her guest, the Appeal Court president who lamented that there was disunity among female judges, said there was a need for them to come together in order to be able to help those in need. ....

National Unity Platform (NUP) party leader Robert Kyagulanyi, aka Bobi Wine, has notified the Supreme Court that he will file a petition challenging the re-election of President Museveni tomorrow, the Judiciary has confirmed. 
This will be the fourth time President Museveni’s election will be challenged, the previous occasions being 2001, 2006 and 2016. 
Commenting about the development, Judiciary spokesperson Jameson Karemani said: “It is true Mr Kyagulanyi’s lawyers had written to the court to allow them to file their petition today (Saturday) but the Chief Justice advised that they file it on Monday.” ....
