MECKLENBURG COUNTY, N.C. (WBTV) - Millions of dollars aimed at reducing racial disparities has been included in a nearly $2 billion recommended budget for Mecklenburg County for fiscal year 2022.
County Manager Dena R. Diorio presented her recommended budget for fiscal year 2022 Thursday to the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners (BOCC).
The $1.99-billion recommended budget is an increase of $96 million, or 5 percent, over the current fiscal year 2021 operating budget. ....

OAKLAND COUNTY The Oakland County-based nonprofit organization Common Ground has been working for decades in conjunction with local governments, law enforcement, medical professionals and community groups to help residents find treatment and resources to support their mental welfare or to intervene before an untreated mental illness becomes a crisis.
And because the need for those services has only grown since Common Ground was founded in 1971, the nonprofit has grown, too.
Recently, it announced plans to launch a $1 million Behavioral Health Urgent Care to address the increasing demand from local people facing stress, addiction and other emotional wellbeing issues. ....

Daymark Recovery Services expands urgent care to Randolph County

ASHEBORO - Studies show a high increase in mental health issues such as depression and anxiety, calling for local organizations to introduce two new urgent care services.
Daymark Recovery Service provides various outpatient and psychiatric services for mental illnesses, substance use disorders, and developmental disabilities. The institution will now cater to pressing concerns 24/7 with their new Behavioral Health Urgent Care and Facility-Based Crisis Centers.
Chief Information Officer Jerold Greer said they already had these programs in surrounding counties and saw a need in Asheboro.
According to Greer, the state has local management entities and managed care organizations such as Sandhills Center, which drives the programs. Sandhills manages public mental health in nine counties, including Randolph County, with a budget allocated to funding and developing mental health services. ....
