MUMBAI: Young Gujarat left-arm pacer Arzan Nagwaswalla, who has been picked up as a stand-by player in the Indian team for the World Test Championship final and away series against England, is the only active Parsi cricketer currently plying his trade in the domestic circuit and stands out for his pace.
Former Gujarat right-arm pacer and coach Hitesh Majumdar told PTI on Friday that Nagwaswalla can touch speed upto 140 kmph.

Sir Frank Worrell has fulfilled the necessary requirements for hero status, and throughout his life represented Barbados “
when this fair land was young and sowed the seed from which our pride is sprung. A pride that makes no wanton boast of what it has withstood, that binds our hearts from coast to coast, the pride of nationhood.” He also made it known that “these fields and hills beyond recall are now our very own” when he became the first black captain of the West Indies cricket team for an entire series as was being requested by the majority of West Indians and therefore wrote “his name on history’s page with expectations great” along with the knowledge that he had to be a “strict guardian of our heritage and a firm craft man of our fate”. Sunil Gavaskar showed mastery over pace in his debut series in the West Indies, and mastery over spin in his last Test on a rank turner in Bangalore.
Imagine a 21-year-old debutant cricketer inspiring a song in another land. Such was the mesmerising debut series of Sunil Gavaskar in the West Indies 50 years ago. The Little Master scored 774 runs in four Tests at an average of 154.80, which remains a record for the most runs in a debut series.
Records aside, it was a defining year for Indian cricket, because India beat the West Indies for the first time in Gavaskar’s debut Test on March 6, 1971, went on to win the series, and followed that up with a maiden series win in England. ....

New Delhi, Jan 22 : When England were pulverised 0-4 on their last tour of India in 2016, Virat Kohli piled up 655 runs at an average of 109.16 in the five-match Test series, and Karun Nair became the second Indian to score a triple century after Virender Sehwag. The one-sided series, played in November and December four years ago, featured two innings victories for India.
