If France Never Surrendered, Could Hitler Have Been Stopped?

If France Never Surrendered, Could Hitler Have Been Stopped?
The French had meaningful means to resist Germany, and to continue to put pressure on the Nazi regime.
Here s What You Need to Know: The eventual course of World War II put an especially bad light on the decision of the French military and political hierarchy to cease resistance against Germany.
France surrendered to the Nazis in 1940 for complex reasons. The proximate cause, of course, was the success of the German invasion, which left metropolitan France at the mercy of Nazi armies. But the German victory opened profound rifts in French society. Instead of fleeing the country and keeping up the fight, as the Dutch government and a residue of the French military did, the bulk of the French government and military hierarchy made peace with the Germans. ....

For four days at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Orlando, speakers at the Conservative Political Action Conference shared a number of contentious views, from echoing false claims about election fraud to undermining the seriousness of a pandemic that has killed more than 512,000 Americans.
But some critics also took aim at a seemingly more mundane detail: the shape of the conference stage.
Images of the CPAC stage went viral this weekend as many noted a resemblance to the Odal or Othala Rune, a symbol emblazoned on some Nazi uniforms. The Anti-Defamation League has classified the insignia as a hate symbol, which has been adopted by modern day white supremacists. ....

Washington Post Reframes Story of the CPAC-Nazi Rally After Hyatt Refuses to Buckle

When the media cancel outrage failed them, WaPo attempts to repackage the Nazi story.
Over the weekend we saw the media go full Godwin, when an asinine claim was circulated that the speakers’ stage in the main hall of the CPAC convention was created after Nazi imagery. It was so easily dismissed, and even parodied, that when the Chairman of The American Conservative Union, Matt Schlapp, took the stage to introduce President Trump yesterday he trolled them, by making a comment about how nice the staging looked.
This morning Brandon Morse wrote about reactionaries’ attempts to go after the hotel with threats of boycotts, and how they were rebuffed by the corporate heads declaring they were not going to bow to the contrived outrage. As a result, the Washington Post decided to make another attempt at making the accusation stick their third attempt at getting the story ....

Alyssa Milano Floats CPAC Nazi Conspiracy Theory, Calls for Boycott of Hyatt

Alyssa Milano Floats CPAC Nazi Conspiracy Theory, Calls for Boycott of Hyatt
1 Mar 2021
Actress and left-wing activist Alyssa Milano floated a Nazi conspiracy theory directed toward the organizers of CPAC, suggesting that they deliberately fashioned the main stage to match the shape of a Nazi symbol.
“This is the stage at CPAC. THEY’RE NOT EVEN TRYING TO HIDE IT ANYMORE,” Milano wrote in an outraged post to her 2.9 million Instagram followers before tagging Hyatt, where the political convention took place. “@hyatt, this is what’s happening in your building. @tedcruz, you stood on this stage.”
Her conspiracy theory caught fire on social media, drawing remarks from filmmaker Morgan J. Freeman and NARAL President Ilyse Hogue. ....
